JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has asked that the implementation of the National Strategic Project (PSN) be continued, especially those that are prioritized to be accelerated. Especially PSN which has an impact on strengthening the people's economy and also on the recovery of the national economy.
Jokowi said, although Indonesia is facing the COVID-19 outbreak, agendas that are very important to the nation and state, and which are priorities for the national interest, must not stop and must continue.
"With regard to the ongoing PSN, I ask to prioritize the implementation of the PSN which will have a direct impact on strengthening the people's economy and on the national economic recovery," he said in a video conference with journalists, Friday, May 29.
The former Governor of DKI Jakarta noted that there are several PSNs which are very important for strengthening the people's economy. Such as the land certification program for the people, land legalization for transmigration, agrarian reform, social forestry, and rejuvenation of smallholder plantations.
Jokowi asked that in implementing these programs, the health protocol for the pre-COVID-19 disease must be followed.
"I want to make sure this priority program continues but strictly follows health protocols," he said.
In addition, Jokowi also requested that obstacles that interfere with the implementation of PSN in the field can be resolved immediately.
"Resolve as quickly as possible the various obstacles, various obstructions for the implementation of PSN in the field. I received reports that the biggest obstacle is still in the matter of land acquisition," he explained.
With regard to the proposed 245 PSN, Jokowi asked the project to be reviewed for its urgency, in the midst of this COVID-19 crisis.
"I ask to really look at it in the field, count it, calculate in detail which ones are recommended and which are not recommended," he said.
Jokowi emphasized that currently the priority for adding strategic projects will be focused on those that have a big leverage in the post-COVID-19 economic recovery. "I think it is very important we prioritize it," he said.
