Controlling Emergency PPKM In Semarang Is Considered Arrogant, PKS Asks The Task Force And Apparatus To Be More Humane

JAKARTA - Member of the PKS faction of the DPR, Bukhori Yusuf, protested the arrogant actions of the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) Semarang City, Central Java, in controlling a number of business stalls during a raid on the Implementation of the Java-Bali Emergency Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM).

The reason is that the COVID-19 Task Force and the Satpol PP who take action are considered too arrogant and excessive, and make the people more depressed. Especially regarding sanctions to traders who violate the rules, by spraying their stalls using fire engines and confiscation of merchandise.

According to Bukhori, such actions cannot be justified despite having good intentions.

“I can understand the officers' straight commitment in enforcing the rules. However, our responsibility to the law should not eliminate our manners in humanizing humans," said Bukhori, Thursday, July 8.

This Semarang constituency legislator also regretted the repressive actions of officers who confiscated business properties and sprayed a number of shops that were deemed to have violated the PPKM.

He emphasized that these primitive ways must be stopped and must not be repeated. This is because the apparatus is an extension of the state which is required to have high social sensitivity.

"Assertiveness is important, but no less important is firmness through example, protection, and politeness," he explained.

The member of Commission VIII of the DPR who is in charge of social issues asked the apparatus to be more humane and rational in responding to the dynamics of society to obey government regulations.

According to him, the officers must be more patient and polite in reprimanding and advising residents who commit violations. Because, he said, a number of prohibition rules during emergency PPKM intersect with their livelihood aspects.

“The people, especially these small traders, don't really have much choice. Their livelihood is not borne by the state. It is natural that some of them still open businesses or force sales to meet their living needs. The situation is very difficult right now," said Bukhori.

He said that the social sensitivity of the apparatus to be willing to listen and understand the situation was the most essential thing in addition to being firm on the rules. To foster people's trust in the country and their commitment to comply with the rules.

"I believe that everything that is said with the heart will reach the heart," explained Bukhori.
