CIANJUR - The Cianjur District Court, West Java, held a trial for minor criminal offenses (tipiring) against dozens of violators of prokes and emergency PPKM who were caught in judicial raids over the past few days.
"This is the first trial against 15 violators, most of whom violated the prokes during the emergency PPKM," said Cianjur District Court Public Relations Officer Donovan Akbar, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, July 7.
Donovan explained that those who underwent the trial included workers, city transportation drivers and shop owners, most of whom committed violations by not wearing masks and crowding.
Violators who sit in the chair for several minutes are subject to fines ranging from Rp. 50,000 to Rp. 100,000 or imprisonment for two days.
"Most asked for leniency to pay sanctions, with a deadline of three days after the verdict," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of Cianjur Satpol PP and Firefighters Hendri Prasetyadi said 15 violators of health protocols and emergency PPKM rules were caught in two locations on Jalan HOS Cokroaminoto and Arif Rahman Hakim.
"Sanctions and trial courts are applied to provide a deterrent effect for those who still ignore the emergency PPKM procedures and regulations," he said.
Meanwhile, some residents who received the verdict at the trial court, objected to the decision to impose a fine because they did not have the money according to the court's decision, so they asked for leniency.
"I object and ask for relief to be paid in installments, I hope this sanction will not be selective because many violators are not prosecuted, for example in factories," said Agus, who works as a traveling merchant.
