MATARAM - West Nusa Tenggara Police Chief Inspector General Mohammad Iqbal is self-isolating after realizing he had close contact with one of the main police officials who tested positive for COVID-19.

"So two days ago I was in close contact with a key official who is now positive (COVID-19) and I immediately took the initiative to take self-isolation measures," Iqbal said via WhatsApp, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, July 7.

Iqbal admitted that he continued to self-isolate even though the results of the rapid antigen and PCR tests showed negative results. Even from a video call, Iqbal stated that he was in good health.

"So I've had an antigen swab and the results are negative. I've also done PCR, there's nothing. But in theory, after close contact, you can't meet people, especially in the current conditions there are different variants," he said.

From his isolation period, Iqbal admitted that he was still carrying out his duties by limiting direct contact with anyone.

He ensured that this self-isolation would continue in accordance with government regulations. During the isolation period, he will undergo periodic COVID-19 tests according to stages.

"For those who are in close contact with the suspect, we must follow the rules. It will only be read in the next week, whether I am free (from positive COVID-19) or not," he said.

He also hopes that this initiative will be able to become an example for the community in the midst of the increasingly massive threat of COVID-19 transmission. If you feel you have been in close contact with people who have been exposed to COVID-19, he suggests taking appropriate action immediately.

"In accordance with the handling procedure, the 3T handling steps, namely tracing, testing, and treatment must be carried out immediately," he said.
