Ojol Clashes With Eagle's Eye, Police Check Witnesses

JAKARTA - Sawah Besar Police, Central Jakarta, secured a number of witnesses related to the commotion between online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojek online/ojol) and "debt collectors" or commonly called eagle eyes.

The clash, which involved dozens of online motorcycle taxi drivers, occurred in the Mangga Besar Highway, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta, Tuesday at around 17.00 WIB.

The incident went viral on social media and was uploaded via the @jktinfo Instagram account. In the video, ojol drivers can be seen arguing with eagle eyes, even throwing helmets.

"We have secured several witnesses to the Sector Police, we are investigating what happened, what to do," said Kapolsek Sawah Besar, AKP Maulana Mukarom, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, July 6.

The incident had made the road jammed, because other drivers got down to watch the commotion.

Maulana explained that the police repulsed the group of ojol drivers and eagle eyes. At around 18.00 WIB, the two groups had disbanded and the atmosphere was conducive.

Officers from the Sawah Besar Sector Police and Central Jakarta Police took action so that the crowd could gradually disperse.

"The Sawah Besar Police and the Central Jakarta Police acted quickly. We have dispersed the crowd. At 18.00 the masses returned to their respective places," said Maulana.

Maulana appealed to victims to report the incident to the Sawah Besar Police for professional follow-up.
