JAKARTA - The North Jakarta Metro Resort Police (Polres) confiscated 50 kilograms (kg) of marijuana from two people with the initials BA and SR, accomplices to a drug dealer from Medan, North Sumatra known as Opung.
North Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Guruh Arif Darmawan said members of the Jakut Police Narcotics Investigation Unit confiscated the marijuana weighing about 50 kilograms from the rented apartment of the two suspects.
"Development by members of the North Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Unit has yielded more than 50 kg of marijuana," said Guruh, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, July 6.
Guruh explained that the two suspects were arrested by members of the Narcotics Unit at the Jakarta Metro Police after conducting the investigation process. Both are known to have been operating in the jurisdiction of the North Jakarta Metro Police.
"The results of the investigation led to the Jonggol area (West Java), showing that two perpetrators kept marijuana in a rented house, on behalf of BA and SR," explained Guruh.
Furthermore, the North Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Satres team under the leadership of Kanit II AKP P Hasiholan Siahaan then directed an investigation to the rent of the two perpetrators in the Jonggol area.
There, the police got 52.9 kilograms of marijuana which was divided by two. 50 packages were wrapped in brown duct tape containing 49.2 kilograms of marijuana. Then the second one is wrapped in 26 plastic packages weighing about 3.7 kilograms.
The two suspects are currently being held at the Jakut Police Headquarters for legal proceedings.
For their actions, the two suspects were threatened with Article 114 paragraph 2 subsidiary Article 111 paragraph 2 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
