JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of East Java Emil Elestianto Dardak invites and encourages public interest in donating convalescent plasma.

This is to save the lives of patients battling COVID-19 in various areas of the province.

"We have heard of the urgent need for convalescent plasma. It has become public attention that there are quite long queues for convalescent plasma. Therefore, we encourage and encourage the interest of East Java residents who have succeeded as COVID-19 survivors to flock to convalescent plasma donors," said Emil Dardak in Sidoarjo, reported by Antara, Sunday, July 4.

When reviewing the Blood Transfusion Unit (UTD) of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in Sidoarjo Regency, Emil Dardak, who is also the Honorary Council of the East Java PMI, said that one of the places that could become a convalescent plasma donor was at UTD PMI, Sidoarjo Regency.

Based on the available data, the number of queues for convalescent plasma needs per Sunday, July 4th, reached 251 of all blood types.

Currently, he said, UTD PMI Sidoarjo Regency itself has 3 apheresis donor devices that can accommodate 20-30 donors per day. It is planned that on July 12, 2021, UTD PMI Sidoarjo Regency will add one more unit of apheresis donor equipment.

Despite having 3 conventional plasma apheresis donor devices, he continued, UTD PMI Sidoarjo Regency will also help patients from outside Sidoarjo. So, donors must be encouraged and sought.

"Let's donate and make the Emergency PPKM a success. Donors are not only from this area, but also from other areas, their participation is very much needed to donate," he said.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Sidoarjo Ahmad Muhdlor Ali said the UTD PMI of Sidoarjo Regency met more needs of plasma donors in other districts.

For Sidoarjo Regency alone, it is only 33 percent and to meet the needs of convalescent plasma, Ahmad Muhdlor Ali also actively invites ASN in the Sidoarjo Regency Government to participate as donors.

"The rest is to cover the PMI network in other areas. That's good. We make sure the donors are also sufficient. Including yesterday we had an MoU with factories, mass organizations to help with donor problems," said Ahmad Muhdlor Ali.
