Voxpol Center Survey: Gerindra Party Could Defeat PDIP If General Elections Are Held Today

JAKARTA - Voxpol Center survey results put the Gerindra Party ahead of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), which has always been at the top of the standings. The Gerindra Party, which is chaired by Prabowo Subianto, is predicted to win the General Election (Pemilu) if the voting is held today.

"The Gerindra Party is 27.9 percent superior to the PDI-P with 23 percent and PKS 9.4 percent," said the Executive Director of the Voxpol Center, Pangi Syarwi Chaniago, in the release of the National Survey Report: "People's Preferences Against National Political Conditions", received Saturday, July 4th.

After that, continued Pangi, the Democratic Party followed with 7.8 percent, the Golkar Party with 6.8 percent, and the PKB 4.9 percent.

Pangi explained, assuming the parliamentary threshold (PT) of 4 percent, the parties that are not expected to pass are the Nasdem Party which won 2.3 percent, Perindo 1.3 percent, PPP 1.3 percent.

Meanwhile, the political parties with less than one percent electability were PAN, Hanura Party, PSI, PBB, Garuda, Ummat Party, Berkarya, PKPI, and the Indonesian Gelora Party.

"Meanwhile, 12.5 percent of respondents answered they did not know or did not answer," concluded Pangi.

The survey was conducted between June 22 and July 1, 2021 by interviewing 1,200 respondents from 32,000 telephone numbers in the Voxpol Center database.

Sampling used the stratified random sampling method with an error tolerance of ± 2.83 percent at a 95 percent confidence level.
