JAKARTA - Chairman of the PKS faction of the DPR RI, Jazuli Juwaini, asked the government to work hard after deciding the policy for the Implementation of Emergency Community Policy Restrictions (PPKM) in Java and Bali, which will take effect from tomorrow, July 3 to July 20.
He warned the government to ensure that health services do not collapse or become paralyzed in the face of the surge in COVID-19 patients.
"The PKS faction asks the government to work extra hard to help people who are positive for COVID-19 by mitigating the health system, not to be paralyzed. This includes maintaining the availability of medicines, beds, doctors, and health workers," Jazuli told reporters, Friday, 2 July.
According to the member of Commission I of the DPR RI, the safety of the people must be the government's top priority. This is because the current condition is very urgent because the health systems in various hospitals and health services are no longer able to accommodate COVID-19 patients.
"The number of transmissions has increased sharply due to the new variant, so there is no other way for the government to take this emergency step," said Jazuli.
Jazuli admitted that he received many complaints from the public, requests for hospital advocacy, and even saw for himself that hospitals were no longer able to handle COVID-19 patients, doctors and paramedics had worked overtime and were very tired.
On the other hand, Jazuli asked the government to ensure that the Emergency PPKM policy was effective in the field by intensifying communication and coordination with government officials and units to the RT level and involving the participation of broad elements of the community.
He assessed that the success of breaking the chain of transmission of COVID-19 with the Emergency PPKM policy depends on the discipline of the entire community.
"Therefore, the role of all elements of society, scholars, community leaders, leaders, including the private sector is very important. Once again the discipline of the rules that are set is the key,” said Jazuli.
