JAKARTA - Member of Commission IX of the DPR PPP Faction, Anas Thahir appealed to the public to remain calm and not to panic excessively following the surge in COVID-19 cases. Moreover, there are new virus variants such as the Delta type which spreads more quickly.

According to Anas, the public must continue to apply strict health protocols to avoid the transmission of the virus.

"The public must remain calm by increasing vigilance through two times more stringent health procedures," said Anas Thahir to reporters, Monday, June 28.

He asked the government to immediately take steps that are faster and more accurate in anticipating the possibility of the worst happening. Given, the availability of treatment rooms in hospitals is running low.

In addition, they must also be aware of the long queues in the emergency room, shortage of medical equipment, and the availability of medicines.

"Emergency situations must be dealt with in an emergency manner," said Anas Thahir.

The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 98,187 specimens were examined with the results, there were 20,694 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 2,135,998 people and active cases are 218,478," according to data from the Ministry of Health, Monday, June 28.

Today's recovered cases increased by 9,480 cases, bringing the total to 1,859,961 people recovered. Then, positive confirmed cases who died increased by 423 people and a total of 57,561 people.

The province with the most new cases is DKI Jakarta with 8,348 cases and a total of 528,409 cases. Followed by West Java which has 4,771 new cases with a total of 373,074 cases. Central Java has 2,143 new cases and a total of 248,672 cases. Then, East Java had 1,081 new cases and a total of 170,765 cases.
