JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) proposed a candidate for the LBBP RI ambassador to friendly countries and international organizations. There were 33 names submitted, ranging from Presidential Spokesman Fadjroel Rachman to the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) Rosan Roeslani.
Seeing this condition, constitutional law expert Bivitri Susanti said that the name submission is a power sharing tool for oligarchic groups. Moreover, a number of existing names are groups in the group.
"There has just been a bit of excitement in various WhatApps Groups (WAG) about how to divide up positions, even for the newly appointed Ambassador. There are people who are part of the oligrchy," said Bivitri in an online discussion broadcast on YouTube, Sunday, June 27.
Although he did not explicitly mention the names in question, however, he said the names on the list of potential ambassadors came from employers' organizations or from any other institution. So the nuances of the division of positions are so thick.
Even so, Bivitri was not surprised by this kind of practice. Because, division of positions like this also occurs in state-owned companies where many oligarchic groups sit as commissioners.
"There are several there who have companies, employers' organizations and so on which are divided into positions. Not only ambassadors, but also commissioners, tools to share profits," he said.
Furthermore, Bivitri explained that the character of the oligarchic group is basically never satisfied with the benefits and power they get. They want to accumulate more and secure wealth.
The oligarchic groups in Indonesia currently have a good network. As a result they feel comfortable and want to continue the status quo of the current incumbent leader.
This has led to the discourse of changing the term of office or extending the term of office of the president-vice president which has emerged recently.
"We can see that this oligarchy is controlling the exercise of power in this country. They are comfortable, this situation has become the status quo for them, it is better not to replace (the president, ed). Because the network is already tidy," he said.
The further process of the names proposed as ambassador candidates will be carried out in the second week of July. Later, these names will carry out a fit and proper test held by Commission I of the DPR RI.
Regarding this nomination, Fadjroel said whatever task President Jokowi gave him he would be ready to carry out. He considered this a noble task.
"Any task for the state that President Joko Widodo has directed to me is a priceless gift. Because the task of the state is a noble task everywhere for the glory of the state and nation towards advanced Indonesia," he said when contacted by VOI, Friday, June 25.
In addition to the names of Fadjroel and Rosan Roslani, there are the names of former members of Jokowi's success team during the 2019 Presidential Election, such as Zuhairi Misrawi who was proposed as a candidate for ambassador to the Republic of Tunisia and Lena Maryana Mukti who was proposed as a candidate for ambassador to Kuwait.
Then, there is also the name of Rudy Alfonso, who is a Golkar Party cadre as well as a lawyer. He was proposed as a candidate for Indonesian Ambassador to Portugal.
To VOI, Rudy hopes that he can contribute to the opportunities given by Jokowi. "I have just been nominated. Hopefully, the trust of our President can contribute," said Rudy Alfonso to VOI, Friday, June 25 evening.
For Rudy, who has been in the world of advocates, trusting President Jokowi is not an easy task. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced everyone to adapt.
Even so, Rudy, who graduated from Krisnadwipayana University in Jakarta, is determined to carry out President Jokowi's mandate if his nomination is approved by the DPR. "Because this is not an easy task during a pandemic. Because the president believes we must prove that his belief is not wrong," he concluded.
