JAKARTA - COVID-19 confirmed patients in Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, increased by 242 new cases or breaking a daily record during June, bringing the total during the pandemic to 5,301 cases.

"Today there are very many, and the highest is during the addition of daily cases," said Head of the Gunung Kidul Health Service Dewi Irawaty in Gunung Kidul, as reported by Antara, Friday, June 25.

He admitted that a number of COVID-19 referral hospitals in Gunung Kidul, where the beds for the treatment of confirmed COVID-19 patients were full. So, must use the bed for patients who are not confirmed.

"There is a surge in COVID-19 patients who must be treated, we have also sought beds for confirmed COVID-19 patients who need treatment," he said.

Dewi also admitted that her party could not detail the addition of daily cases, which were very large in number. This is because a number of employees of the Health Service have been confirmed to have COVID-19. In addition, health workers are still focused on accelerating the implementation of vaccinations in this region.

According to data from the Gunung Kidul Health Office, a total of 5,301 cases were confirmed, with details of 1,611 active cases or 46.44 percent, 3,469 recovered or 65.44 percent, and 221 deaths.

"We appeal to the public to maintain health protocols in an orderly manner to anticipate the spread of COVID-19," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Regent of Gunung Kidul Heri Susanto said he had issued a circular regarding the temporary postponement of activities that could cause crowds. This is based on the consideration that Gunung Kidul Regency is currently in the category of risk of increasing COVID-19 cases, the zone is high risk.

"Therefore, in order to anticipate the spread of COVID-19 which can cause crowds, we have instructed meetings, outreach activities, seminars, workshops, and the like to be postponed or temporarily suspended," said Heri.
