Masseur Caught Stealing Charity Box At Musala Jember, The Money Is To Buy Food-cigarettes

JEMBER - The masseur with the initials SH (25) was caught by a resident after he was caught stealing a charity box at the Baithul Mukminin prayer room, Patrang, Jember, East Java. The perpetrator was handed over to the Patrang Police.

The head of the Patrang Sector Police, AKP Heri Supadmo, said the theft of the charity box was discovered by a witness named H Rawi when he was about to call for the dawn call to prayer. He was surprised that the charity box in the prayer room had disappeared.

“The witness asked the congregation for the morning prayer. Residents suspect that SH was sleeping in the prayer room that night," said AKP Heri Supadmo in a written statement, Friday, June 25.

Residents then look for the whereabouts of SH. After being found and questioned, SH was embarrassed and finally admitted his actions.

"The suspect took the charity box after he woke up," he said.

After that, the perpetrator admitted to taking the money and throwing the charity box on the riverbank. The police who received reports from residents arrested SH.

According to the suspect's confession, the perpetrator was desperate to steal the charity box to buy cigarettes and eat.

In this case, the police secured evidence of a charity box made of black wood, Rp55 thousand in cash and a pack of cigarettes.

"We have examined witnesses and suspects. SH is subject to Article 364 of the KHUP," he said.
