COVID-19 Cases Skyrocket, Hundreds Of Patients Queue To Enter RSLI Surabaya

SURABAYA - A total of 113 COVID-19 patients are on a waiting list at the Indrapura Field Hospital (RSLI) Surabaya. They are overflow patients from various regions in East Java.

"As of today, there are 113 patients on the waiting list, overflowing from several areas in East Java," said RSLI Surabaya Person in Charge, I Dewa Gede Nalendra Djaya Iswara, in Surabaya, Thursday, June 24.

Nalendra did not specify where the hundreds of patients came from. He only said that the recent surge in COVID-19 has made the COVID-19 referral hospital in East Java full.

"In addition to donations from the Bangkalan Cluster, the number of patients entering and pivoting also came from the general public and families from Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Gresik, and surrounding cities," he said.

However, Nalendra stated that his party was ready to carry out state duties, in providing services for COVID-19 patients. He hopes that the public is aware, so they want to be disciplined in health protocols (processes).

Currently, continued Nalendra, there are 291 of the 410 total bed capacity that has been used. This means that there are still 119 beds in the RSLI that have not been used.

"Hopefully the community will continue to carry out health protocols properly and consistently. So that there will be no spike in COVID-19 sufferers and the pandemic will end soon," he said.

RSLI is an alternative hospital that usually receives an abundance of COVID-19 patients from various regions in East Java. In addition, RSLI also serves COVID-19 patients from Indonesian migrant workers (PMI), even patients infected with the Delta variant of COVID-19 from India.
