Public Interest In Receiving COVID Vaccines In Pekanbaru Is High, It Takes 50 Thousand More Vials Of Sinovac Vaccine

PEKANBARU - Pekanbaru City Health Office (Diskes), Riau, again received an additional 1,000 vials of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine to meet high public interest.

"This amount is still small, ideally we should get another 50,000 vials," said Pekanbaru City Health Office Acting Head Arnaldo Eka Putra in Pekanbaru as reported by Antara, Wednesday, June 23.

However, said Arnaldo, while waiting for the addition of the vaccine, the Health Office will use the existing amount to distribute it to health facilities (faskes) throughout Pekanbaru to be injected into residents.

"The quota of 1,000 vials can be used for 10,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine, yesterday 490 vials were used," said Arnaldo.

Currently there are around 510 vaccine vials that will be distributed to a number of health facilities to continue vaccinating residents.

According to him, public interest in getting vaccinated is quite high. This can be seen from the hectic visits of people who want to do vaccines to places provided by the city government.

"And the due date for the second vaccine is until the end of the month, so currently it's still running low to meet the vaccine needs in Pekanbaru," he said.

He hopes that there will be more additions so that the COVID-19 vaccination process does not end. "The plan will come again with an additional 18,000 vials or 180,000 more doses," he said.

He also appealed to people who come to health facilities to carry out vaccines to continue to comply with health protocols (prokes).

"The 5 M (wearing a mask, washing hands, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds, preventing interaction mobility), must be a rule that must be applied by both the media team and the public during the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccine, we urge all to pay attention to this," he said.
