COVID-19 Cases Soar In Banyuwangi, Ipuk Regent Ensures Addition Of ICU Mattresses And Isolation

BANYUWANGI - COVID-19 cases in Banyuwangi, East Java have increased in the last two weeks. This condition has an impact on the number of beds or the bed occupancy rate (BOR) of the COVID-19 referral hospital in Banyuwangi.

The BOR for intensive care installations or ICUs at 5 referral hospitals in Banyuwangi has reached 87 percent of the total 23 beds.

Meanwhile, the isolation BOR has been filled with 44 percent of the total 203 beds. Later there will be an increase in the number of beds for the ICU and isolation.

"Our ICU beds (Blambangan Hospital) are full, we have asked to add more beds, and we will add 6, now there are 4 full," said Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani at Blambangan Hospital, Tuesday, June 22.

Ipuk explained, according to central government regulations, if the occupancy reaches 70 percent, the ICU bed must be added.

In addition to beds, his party will also add oxygen stock and PCR test capacity in Banyuwangi.

"Availability of oxygen is also central, this must be ensured to be sufficient. If there is an emergency, oxygen is also sufficient," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Banyuwangi Health Office, Widji Lestariono, said that his party had asked all referral hospitals to add their respective ICU beds and isolation.

"We are also asking for five additional ICU beds and isolation schemes," he said.
