MEDAN - The North Sumatra COVID-19 Handling Task Force reported that the number of COVID-19 cases increased by 280 today, bringing the total to 34,571 people.

"Today, the number of cases added is very large, reaching 280 people, so the total has increased dramatically to 34,571 people", said North Sumatra COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Aris Yudhariansyah in Medan, quoted by Antara, Monday, June 21.

The city of Medan is the area with the most additions to the number of positive COVID-19 cases, namely 91 people. Followed by Simalungun 77 people, Karo 40 people, Deli Serdang 34 people, North Tapanuli 16 people, Labuhanbatu Utara 11 people, Tanjungbalai six people, Padang Lawas three people, and Toba two people.

For the number of deaths due to COVID-19, Aris said it was still increasing. On June 21 it was reported that three COVID-19 patients had died.

"The three COVID-19 patients died, two each from Labuhan Batu Selatan and one from Deli Serdang. The current total is 1,148 people", he said.

He said the daily cure rate obtained was also still relatively high because in a day there was an addition of 139 people, so the total increased to 30,625 people.

A total of 139 people came from Medan 75 people, Deli Serdang 35 people, Karo 17 people, South Labuhanbatu four people, Simalungun three people, Dairi two people and Toba, Batubara, and Labuhan Batu Utara one person each.
