JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya does not prohibit community organizations (Ormas) from requesting holiday allowances (THR) from companies. As long as the action is not coercive and does not violate the law.

The police will take action if the THR request falls into the realm of crime. Like doing coercion or something else when asking for THR. "If you ask for THR from a businessman but the mass organization hits it, that's a crime," he said.

He said Ormas must also accept if the company requested by THR does not want to give. "If you start with coercion and compulsion, then you can't because you don't have a sense of obligation, or a criminal act occurs there, beating or forcing to attack, the business will be different later," he said.

On this occasion, he believed, no mass organizations were currently committing careless acts. Including compulsion in asking for THR. He said, mass organizations already know that there are legal consequences if they ask for THR by force.

"If you force him, he must also think for sure, if you force the present era, you will definitely be known and if you are in the same field, those who are terrorized will also be blackmail," he said.

Previously, a letter with the head of one of the community organizations (Ormas) was circulating containing a request for holiday allowance (THR). In fact, a copy of the letter contained the name of the East Bekasi Police Chief, Kompol Sutoyo.

After investigating, it turned out that Sutoyo's name was picked up by a mass organization requesting THR. Sutoyo also called the mass organization and asked to withdraw all the letters that had copies of him.

"I have already called (the Ormas, red) let alone use my copy, all kinds of copies to the Police Chief, I have asked to withdraw the letter again," said Sutoyo, Tuesday, May 12.

In addition, said Sutoyo, the mass organization has also made a written statement regarding not sending a letter requesting THR to the public or to the company, including the name of the official.

He said, although there are no regulations that prohibit mass organizations from asking for allowances, if there are parties who feel threatened or burdened, they can be brought into the realm of crime.

For this reason, citizens or companies are welcome to report to the police if there is an element of coercion or extortion by these organizations.

"Yes, it can be followed up if there are reports, for example the community is worried because there is a demand for this THR money," said Sutoyo.
