Ministry Of BUMN Encourages The New Normal Scenario To Accomplish Naturally

JAKARTA - The BUMN Ministry has asked all SOEs to prepare a scenario for The New Normal's activities. Deputy for Human Resources, Technology and Information Technology, Ministry of BUMN, Alex Denni said this scenario was very important to encourage the condition of The New Normal naturally, not based on a decision issued.

Denni explained, preparing to adapt to The New Normal is very important because there has not been a corona vaccine or COVID-19 yet, so it creates uncertainty when this pandemic will end.

According to Denni, the most dangerous scenario is the phase where the virus appears and there is no vaccine. Meanwhile, human behavior ignores safety and health protocols.

In this scenario, it will be accompanied by an increase in the number of patients who die, businesses go bankrupt, mass layoffs, soaring unemployment, and health care is not going well because the number of cases is more than the capacity of the hospital.

However, according to Denni, currently Indonesia is in the middle between the dangerous zone and The New Normal. This is because some people are aware of a healthy and clean lifestyle. Although, some others are not aware of this.

"So if we identify we are roughly in the middle between the danger zone and The New Normal. If the vaccine is found, we will be able to enter a zone where human life expectancy will be higher than before," he said in a video conference with reporters. , Monday, 18 May.

Then, Denni explained, the scenario of The New Normal referred to by the Ministry of BUMN is the behavior of people who are disciplined and care about a healthy lifestyle by diligently washing their hands and using masks while the virus is still there.

According to Denni, BUMN wants to be a locomotive in preparation for The New Normal. This is because more than a third of Indonesia's economic activities are under the responsibility of the Ministry of BUMN.

"So you can imagine if BUMN moves as a locomotive that will push us to The New Normal, then hopefully we can immediately enter The New Normal naturally, not the normal determined by decision. But what happens is because people's behavior changes," he explained.

Denni said that what BUMN could do besides preparing The New Normal protocol was also to provide examples of interaction, socialization, and education. All protocol preparations are still under study which are adjusted to national policies and each region.

"The attachment (circular letter of the Minister of BUMN) does not state that we will enter May 25, but general guidelines and protocols must be released, SOEs prepare anticipatory protocols," he said.

Furthermore, Denni said, BUMN was not only waiting but also had to influence and mobilize the community so that the scenario of The New Normal could be achieved more quickly.

"So The New Normal is not a normal activity like before the pandemic. It's called back to previous normal. There is something new for The New Normal. What's new? The behavior of the people is starting to be disciplined," he explained.

In addition, the Ministry of BUMN and BUMN is trying to be active in providing an overview of the activities of The New Normal for the community. Denni said that the essence of the BUMN Minister's circular letter was asked to adjust it to the context.

"This Wednesday we will hold a BUMN seminar on protocol. The letter (circular) is not an entry (work) entry but prepares a protocol so that SOEs are ready to face and encourage disciplined society so they can enter The New Normal more quickly," he said.
