JAKARTA - The Government of Garut Regency, West Java continues to open tourist attractions by imposing visit restrictions and complying with health protocol requirements because currently there is still a spike in the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak.

"There is no closure of tourist attractions, but the maximum number of visitors is limited to 25 percent," said Head of the Garut Regency Tourism and Culture Office, Budi Gan Gan, to reporters in Garut, as reported by Antara, Friday, June 18.

He said all tourist attractions in Garut Regency would continue to operate as usual with the condition that they must comply with health protocols such as maintaining distance, not crowding, and always wearing masks to avoid transmission of COVID-19.

The reason for keeping tourist attractions open, he said, is because currently the condition of Garut is still an orange zone or activities are allowed, and also refers to the Garut Regent's Circular regarding the implementation of health protocols.

"So in accordance with the regent's direction, we are still in the orange zone position," he said.

He conveyed that the Garut COVID-19 Handling Task Force had been continuously monitoring in the field, including activities at tourist attractions related to the implementation of health protocols.

In addition, he continued, the Garut COVID-19 Task Force team also conducted socialization to tourism managers and tourists, hotel and restaurant visitors to always comply with health protocols.

"We also carry out socialization to the managers of tourist attractions, hotels and restaurants so that they obey all of them," he said.

Regarding the blocking of tourists from outside the city, Budi said, this was not done, so far only all tourists were required to apply health protocols and be in good health.

"There is no isolation of tourists from certain areas, it is important that the progress of the process is put forward," said Budi.
