SOLOK - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) dissected 1,500 uninhabitable houses through the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance Program (BSPS) in Solok Regency, West Sumatra.

"Thank you to the Directorate General of Housing, Ministry of PUPR and Member of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives Athari Ghauti Ardi for providing assistance to the BSPS housing program in Solok Regency," said Solok Regent Epyardi Asda in Solok, quoted by Antara, Thursday, June 17.

Epyardi conveyed this when receiving a visit from the Directorate General of Housing of the Ministry of PUPR and Member of Commission V of the Indonesian Parliament Athari Ghauti Ardi in the context of handing over the BSPS house for the 2021 fiscal year in Nagari Bukit Bais, District IX Koto Sungai Lasi, Solok Regency, West Sumatra.

According to Asda, the BSPS program is a program that is really needed by the community. For that, the Solok Regency Government appreciates and is quite helped by the existence of this program.

"We realize that Solok Regency is one of the poorest areas in West Sumatra. According to statistical data, it is the third poorest after Mentawai and this requires me to work hard in developing Solok Regency in the future," said Asda.

Asda said that this year, Solok Regency received 1,500 house renovation assistance or as many as 45 villages out of 74 villages in Solok Regency.

There are still around 29 villages that have not received assistance for the house renovation.

"For this reason, we hope that the Solok Regency Government will receive further house renovation assistance from the PUPR Ministry for the people of Solok Regency," continued Asda.

In addition, the Director General of Housing, Ministry of PUPR Khalawi Abdul Hamid said this program was inseparable from the proposal of Athari Gauti Ardi as a member of the DPR who proposed to the Ministry of PUPR that Solok Regency would receive the BSPS program.

"Regarding a few more houses that are still left behind, we will try to complete all of them in 2022," Khalawi said.

In addition, Khalawi said the BSPS program is a central government program that has been launched by the president in the form of a program of a million uninhabitable houses throughout Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Member of the House of Representatives Commission V Athari Ghauti Ardi said this program is in line with the programs of the president, the Ministry of PUPR and the Indonesian House of Representatives which aim to ease the burden on the community in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"In addition, this program has gone through strict supervision, it can be seen from the good results, not just random," he said.

Athari said that while he was still in the DPR RI, this program would continue, especially in Solok Regency and West Sumatra in general.
