Attorney General Consider Abolishing The TP4 Program At The Prosecutor's Office

JAKARTA - Attorney General ST Burhanuddin stated that he would evaluate the programs of the Guard, Government Security and Development Team (TP4) which have been driven by the prosecutor's office in guarding government projects both at the central and regional levels.

Burhanuddin said, if the results of the evaluation conducted by his party stated that TP4 was proven to contain a lot of potential abuse, then TP4 could be dissolved.

"We will evaluate it, if necessary I will disband it," he said, in a joint meeting with Commission III of the DPR RI, at Nusantara II Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday (7/11).

Initially, a number of complaints related to TP4 appeared in a meeting between Commission III of the DPR RI and the Attorney General's Office along with the Attorney General's Office throughout Indonesia. A number of board members regretted the abuse of TP4's authority by individual prosecutors.

In fact, TP4 should be used to guard government projects so that irregularities do not occur, both in regions with Regional TP4 and TP4 at the central level.

TP4 has the full authority of the Prosecutor's Office, it is feared that the members of Commission III could create potential fraud.

Regarding the evaluation itself, Baharuddin did not give a specific deadline. Even so, he hopes that the evaluation can be done as soon as possible. Thus, a decision has emerged whether TP4 will be dissolved or continued.

"It will be evaluated later. Whether we will disband (or) replace it with another program. What is clear is that the program was correct. Then there are certain elements who abuse it," he said.
