JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) has secured 1.6 million illegal imported goods worth Rp. 18.85 billion. The goods came from China which was imported by PT ATI which is located in Cikupa, Tangerang, Banten.

Trade Minister Budi Santoso said there were a number of alleged violations in various groups of imported products from China such as hand tools; electrical equipment; electronics; clothing accessories; as well as iron or steel products, alloy steel, and derivative products.

"There were 1,680,047 products that were secured and the value reached Rp18.85 billion," Budi said in an official statement, Thursday, May 22.

Budi said the initial information to initiate supervision of PT ATI's business activities was obtained through observations on social media showing online promotion and distribution of imported products.

"The Ministry of Trade has also taken firm steps against products that do not comply with these provisions," he said.

According to Budi, the products that were secured this time violated different provisions. A number of provisions that are violated include the Indonesian National Standard (SNI); the obligation to include labels in Indonesian; Safety, Safety, Health and Environment (K3L); Manual and Guarantee Card Signs (MKG); and do not have imported documents from goods.

"This export is a follow-up to the results of the supervision of the Directorate General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order (PKTN) of the Ministry of Trade on May 5, 2025," he said.

Budi said the products that were secured consisted of 68,256 units of miniature circuit cleaners (MCB) that did not have a Product Certificate for the Use of SNI Standard Signs (SPPT-SNI) and Goods Registration Number (NPB); 9,763 units of electric saws, electric drills, electric gerinda, and fast machines that did not have K3L Registration Number.

Then, 26 units of dust that do not have MKG List Signs; more than 600,000 gloves that violate the obligation of Indonesian labels; 578 iron processors, 997,269 nuts, various size bolts, and 4,215 SHAckles that do not have imported documents / origins of goods.

"As well as 66 axes and 77 two-hand scissors that violate the provisions of goods are prohibited from importing," he said.

Currently, continued Budi, the Ministry of Trade is still investigating and exploring the findings of the results of the supervision. This stage also gives entrepreneurs time to show import documents.

"During the search and deepening, the Ministry of Trade prohibits the circulation of goods suspected of violating these provisions and business actors must withdraw goods that already exist in the market," he explained.

Budi also said that the threat of sanctions could include written warnings, temporary suspension of business activities, revocation of business licensing, prohibition on trading, withdrawal of goods from distribution, to destruction of goods.

"Supervision and sanctions are based on Government Regulation Number 29 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of the Trade Sector," he said.
