The Mastermind Of Theft Of Rp74 Million In UPK Magelang Was Arrested, It Turned Out To Be A Cashier Employee

MAGELANG - The Magelang Police, Central Java, revealed the mastermind behind the theft of Rp74 million in money belonging to the Gemilang Sejahtera Tempuran Financial Management Unit, namely SJ (38) who was the cashier at the UPK.

Magelang Deputy Police Chief Commissioner Aron Sebastian in Magelang, Wednesday, said the other perpetrators involved in the theft, namely the 17-year-old daughter of the suspect, WA (18), MS (22), and J, are currently at large.

The theft occurred on Friday, June 11, at around 14.00 WIB. Money was stolen from a car on Jalan Raya Magelang-Purworejo, to be precise at the Sidomulyo Intersection, Salaman District, Magelang Regency.

At that time, SJ and Treasurer of UPK Gemilang Sejahtera Tempuran Hermawan (44) intended to deposit money into the bank.

Aron explained the chronology of the theft on Thursday, June 10, suspect SJ asked his son to find someone who could take money belonging to UPK Gemilang Sejahtera Tempuran.

After meeting with several actors, namely WA, MS, and J, then SJ set a strategy for theft of money brought by the treasurer of UPJ Gemilang Sejahtera Tempuran.

On Friday, June 11, suspect SJ met the treasurer of the UPK Gemilang Sejahtera Tempuran at the location. At that time, SJ came riding a motorcycle, while the treasurer took a car. It is planned that Rp74 million will be deposited to a bank in the Salaman area.

"The suspect SJ came using a motorbike and kept asking the victim (treasurer) to park in a safe place. When the victim got out of the car, the theft occurred which was carried out by several suspects on motorbikes without any resistance from the suspect SJ who was in the car. ," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, June 16.

After the incident, SJ together with treasurer Hermawan reported the incident to the Salaman Police. For this incident, investigators examined CCTV and SJ's statement as a witness found irregularities.

"After that, the Magelang Police together with the Salaman Sector Police conducted an investigation through the existing CCTV, then studied the witness statements and found that the perpetrator was SJ, who was originally a witness," he said

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Magelang Police, AKP M. Alfan, said that there were other irregularities when the suspect, SJ, who was in the car, did not immediately shout. He screamed after the perpetrator who took the money ran away.

The suspect was charged with Article 336 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of 7 years in prison. Suspect SJ said that from the proceeds of the crime he had not received a share of the money, because the money was brought by the suspect WA.

He admitted to being the planner of the theft of the money. The proceeds from the crime were originally intended to be used to pay a debt of Rp60 million.
