JAKARTA - The Government of Mukomuko Regency, Bengkulu Province carried out mass vaccinations for 2,000 elderly citizens (elderly) at 17 health centers, hospitals and police stations, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"The announcement was made at the Air Manjuto Public Health Center, followed by implementation at 17 posts, hospitals and the police," said Mukomuko District COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson Bustam Bustomo in his statement at Mukomuko, reported by Antara, Tuesday, June 15.

After launching the mass vaccination program at the Air Manjuto Public Health Center, he stated that the vaccination target for 2,000 elderly residents did not have to be completed in one day but continued until June 30, 2021.

If the COVID-19 vaccination target does not reach as many as 100 elderly per puskesmas, he said, the hope is 60 percent or 60 elderly people in each puskesmas.

"Hopefully 60 percent of the 100 people are elderly citizens, the rest are the general public, public service officers, teachers and staff who come and meet the requirements we serve," he said.

This simultaneous vaccination activity is to follow up on Bengkulu Governor Rohidin Mersyah's instructions to districts/cities to accelerate COVID-19 immunization in districts through the elderly vaccination movement.

His party has gathered all the heads of the puskesmas to prepare everything related to the COVID-19 vaccination which will be carried out on June 15, 2021.

Meanwhile, he said, there were 12,313 elderly residents spread across 15 sub-districts who were targeted for vaccination.
