COVID-19 In Temanggung Increases, Regent: Not Because Of The Eid Holiday, From Picnic And Invite Clusters

JAKARTA - COVID-19 cases in Temanggung Regency, Central Java, in recent weeks have increased four times, from around 60 cases to 240 cases.

Temanggung Regent M. Al Khadziq said the increase in cases was spread across a number of sub-districts in Temanggung Regency.

According to him, the increase in cases was not due to the 2021 Lebaran holiday, but did arise from other cases, including picnic clusters, invitations clusters, poultry market clusters, and others.

"With this increase in COVID-19 cases, I ask the people of Temanggung Regency to be vigilant, increase the discipline of health protocols and reduce crowd activities that are not too important," Khadziq said in Temanggung, as reported by Antara, Monday, June 14.

He conveyed that all must fight together, the TNI government, Polri, community leaders, village heads and the entire community of Temanggung Regency, let's work hard to keep Temanggung Regency in the orange zone and it can even increase to yellow and green zones.

"Let's work hard together to maintain that Temanggung Regency does not fall into a red zone, considering that other regencies in Central Java have cases now also moving up and some areas have become red zones," he said.

He hoped that Temanggung Regency would not become a red zone because this would be very detrimental to the community.

"If Temanggung becomes a red zone then there will be various community activities that are limited, not only by the district task force, if it reaches the red zone then the provincial task force will step down, even the national task force can also go to Temanggung, then carry out various restrictions that will definitely harm the people of Temanggung Regency," he said.

Moreover, Temanggung Regency is now getting ready for the tobacco harvest and coffee harvest.

"Don't let the COVID-19 cases in Temanggung increase so that it will disrupt the economic activities of the tobacco harvest and coffee harvest," he said.

Therefore, his party will enforce the discipline of health protocols in the community, then will also improve the tracking and handling of cases in the community.

"I think now this very prominent number must be suppressed and I hope that in the next week, thankfully the number will be able to go down," he said.
