SLEMAN- Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have an important role in encouraging community economic growth while optimizing local economic potential. In commemoration of National MSME Day which is celebrated every August 12, BRI Peduli as the umbrella of the Social and Environmental Responsibility Program (TJSL) continues to support MSMEs in various regions in Indonesia through capacity building, business assistance, market access expansion, and fulfillment of business facilities and infrastructure needs.

The support was provided, among others, for UMKM actors in Brilian Village. One of the areas with an UMKM ecosystem that has developed in line with local economic potential is Brilian Hargobinangun Village, Pakem District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region.

Located in an area with tourism potential, the UMKM in the Brilliant Hargobinangun Village is active in various sectors, ranging from typical culinary to tourism services. Its existence also supports tourism activities while strengthening the village's economic potential.

Head of Hargobinangun Village Amin Sarjito said that the existence of MSMEs has a role in strengthening the tourism potential owned by the village. According to him, the development of local MSMEs also adds value to Hargobinangun as one of the tourist destinations in the Sleman area.

In line with this potential, BRI Peduli provides support according to the needs of business actors in the form of supporting facilities and infrastructure for business activities as well as business stall assistance to support the sales activities of MSMEs.

"Our village has a lot of potential. One of the mainstay potentials is the tourism potential supported by local MSMEs, ranging from tourism services to typical culinary in the Hargobinangun sub-district area. So, MSMEs are not only a source of income for the community, but also strengthen the attractiveness of the village as a tourist destination," said Amin.

The support is also equipped with direct assistance through Mantri BRI, marketing officers and microcredit mentors who serve and accompany business actors. Assistance is carried out through coaching, financial education, to monitoring the development of customer business.

One of the benefits of this support is felt directly by Darmiyati, the business owner of Jadah Tempe Mbok Tenggok, who received assistance and business support facilities. The business stall assistance from BRI Peduli provides a more decent and comfortable place to sell, so that Darmiyati can carry out his business activities more optimally.

The existence of the stall also helps Darmiyati organize products and serve customers better. In addition to supporting business sustainability, this facility is an incentive for Darmiyati to continue to develop his business while expanding economic benefits for the environment in his village.

"Thank you from BRI Peduli for providing assistance and facilities for us business actors in our area," said Darmiyati.

On a separate occasion, BRI Corporate Secretary Dhanny said that support for MSMEs is part of BRI's commitment to encourage sustainable economic growth. Through various programs and initiatives, BRI continues to strive to strengthen the capacity of MSMEs, not only through access to financing, but also assistance, capacity building, market access expansion, and support for business facilities and infrastructure.

"The momentum of National MSME Day is a reminder of the importance of the role of MSMEs as one of the drivers of the community economy. Therefore, BRI continues to strengthen its support to MSME players in various regions of Indonesia, including through the development of Brilliant Villages. We hope that the support provided can help business actors increase their capacity and quality of their business, as well as encourage local economic potential to grow," said Dhanny.

He added that strengthening MSMEs at the village level is one of BRI's efforts to create an economic ecosystem that grows from the potential and strength of the local community. Through the Brilliant Village, BRI encourages the development of villages in an integrated manner by strengthening the capacity of the community and business actors, so that the local economic potential can provide wider and sustainable benefits for the community.

"Hopefully the assistance provided in Brilian Hargobinangun Village can provide benefits for the development of people's businesses, so that MSMEs are more advanced, local economic potential is growing, and later Hargobinangun Village can become a self-sufficient village and have competitiveness," said Dhanny.
