SAR Team Evacuates Passengers of KMP Putri Yasmin on Fire in Lombok Strait

MATARAM - The Mataram SAR Office together with the joint team is currently conducting an intensive SAR operation following the fire incident that hit the KMP Putri Yasmin in the waters of the Lombok Strait, West Nusa Tenggara on Wednesday morning.

"The incident was reported at 04.15 WITA when the ship was on its way from Padang Bai Port to Lembar Port. The Mataram SAR Office received an emergency report at 04.39 WITA and immediately deployed personnel to carry out the evacuation process," said Head of the Mataram SAR Office, Muhamad Hariyadi, as reported by ANTARRA, Wednesday, August 12.

He emphasized that the main priority of the team at this time is the safety of the lives of all passengers and crew members.

"We have deployed KN 220 Mataram, Rigit Inflatable Boat (RIB), and Rigit Buoyancy Boat (RBB) to the scene to carry out evacuation and coordinate with ships around the scene," he said.

The Mataram SAR Office also coordinated with the Denpasar SAR Office, which also deployed the KN SAR Arjuna to assist in the evacuation process and also deployed a helicopter from SGi Air Bali for wider monitoring by air.

This SAR operation involves synergy from various elements, including the Mataram SAR Office, the Denpasar SAR Office, KMP PortLink II, KAL Lembar, TNI AL, West Lombok Police, West Lombok Polairud, Lembar Port Harbor, yatch ships, SGi Air Bali, local people, and other related parties.

"Until now, the joint SAR team is still at the scene to carry out the evacuation process," he said.
