JAKARTA - The Director General of Defense Forces (Kuathan) of the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) Marsda TNI Hendrikus Haris Haryanto said Indonesia's first aircraft carrier, namely Giuseppe Garibaldi, will arrive in Indonesia on September 20, 2026.
"The plan is for the ship to arrive on September 20, 2026," said Hendrikus as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 20.
To welcome the arrival of the ship, the Indonesian Navy has made various preparations, including sending troops to Italy to be trained as aircraft carrier crew. It is recorded that 100 personnel have been sent by the TNI.
A total of 100 personnel will undergo training in terms of material and practice until they are finally able to operate the aircraft carrier from Italy to Indonesia.
In addition, the Indonesian Navy is also preparing several places to be the aircraft carrier base, one of which is in Lampung.
With these various preparations, it is hoped that the TNI will be more optimal in operating the aircraft carrier.
Previously, the Indonesian Navy prepared the Lampung Navy Base to be one of the resting places for the Giuseppe Garibaldi aircraft carrier.

"So, Lampung is one of the bases that is prepared to accommodate the mooring and docking of the Garibaldi (aircraft carrier)," said Tunggul.
Lanal Lampung was designated as one of the Garibaldi aircraft carrier bases due to several considerations, one of which was its strategic location.
Tunggul continued that currently his party is preparing many things at Lanal Lampung to welcome Garibaldi, one of which is the development of facilities and the lanal area to support the operational needs of the aircraft carrier.
Tunggul ensured that all of these facilities would be completed before the Garibaldi aircraft carrier arrived in Indonesia before the TNI anniversary in October 2026.
