Hotman Admits Febrie Adriansyah Received Money from Tan Kian

JAKARTA - The lawyer for former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah (FA), Hotman Paris Hutapea, denied that his client received money from property entrepreneur Tan Kian.

"Regarding whether Tan Kian is true, he knows to give more Rp50 billion? The answer is no. What is clear is that there is no money," he said as reported by ANTARA, Friday, July 17.

He said this after Febrie was examined by the Corruption Eradication Commission investigators as a suspect in the alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU) case in the legal process by the state organizer in the PT Asabri case for the period 2020-2024. The status of the suspect was determined by the police investigators before the case was handed over to the Corruption Eradication Commission.

According to Hotman, if Tan Kian really gave a bribe to Febrie, then the entrepreneur should be a suspect.

"If he is a bribe giver, why is he not a suspect now? Why is it that Jampidsus, who is so high in the law enforcement, is immediately a suspect?" he said.

In addition, he said that the 12 judges who tried the legal process of the PT Asabri corruption case to the review stage (PK) never questioned the status of Tan Kian who was a witness.

The lawyer also claimed that Tan Kian had no connection with the PT Asabri corruption case.

He said Tan Kian's involvement was only in operational cooperation (KSO) with one of the suspects in the Asabri corruption case, namely Benny Tjokrosaputro.

"Benny Tjokro has land, he made KSO with Tan Kian. So, that cooperation, you know. About the land, it's not Asabri's land, but Benny Tjokro's personal land," he said.

In fact, he continued, the land had been confiscated by the Prosecutor's Office and had been auctioned. Thus, there was no corruption money from Asabri that was enjoyed by Tan Kian.

"The land that has operational cooperation, the land has been seized by the Prosecutor's Office and has been auctioned. Artinyazero (zero), there is no property from Asabri that was taken by Tan Kian which is detrimental to state finances," he emphasized.

Previously, the Polda Metro Jaya said it had examined Tan Kian in the investigation process of three cases of alleged corruption and TPPU, one of which was related to the legal handling process by state organizers in the PT Asabri case for the period 2020-2024.

Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, said Tan Kian was one of the 15 witnesses who had been examined.

"We conveyed the examination, including 15 witnesses that we examined for information, one of which was that (Tan Kian, ed.). So, the person concerned is still in the status of a witness," he said.

The Attorney General's Office issued an investigation order (sprindik) after receiving the transfer of three cases from the National Police as a form of synergy in law enforcement. First, the sprindik numbered 43 for the alleged corruption and TPPU cases of PT KNI.

Second, sprindik number 44 for the case of alleged corruption in coal management at the power plant which is suspected to have triggered the blackout.

Finally, the sprindik number 45 is related to the case of alleged corruption and TPPU in handling the PT Asabri case.
