JAKARTA - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) stated that it is still studying the issue of children from the economically capable group no longer being recipients of the Free Nutrition Meal (MBG) program.
"We are still studying it. There is indeed a discussion there, but we are still studying it," said Deputy Head of BGN Trenggono as reported by ANTARA, Friday, July 17.
Trenggono has not detailed the criteria for future MBG beneficiaries, including the desil group and the type of school. However, he emphasized that the program would be prioritized for groups in need.
According to him, the study is targeted to be completed within one month, along with an evaluation of various other aspects in the implementation of the program according to the deadline given by President Prabowo Subianto.
"The results will be submitted after our study is completed. All of this is still being reviewed," he said.
It is known that President Prabowo Subianto instructed his staff to review the target of the MBG program so that it is given priority to groups in need, including people in the lower villages and stunted areas.
Deputy Head of BGN Agustina Arumsari said the President asked for all inputs related to the implementation of MBG to be reviewed first before the government made a decision.
"He listened to all the input from all the participants in the meeting who were present, there were various proposals," said Agustina after meeting the President at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday (16/7).
According to him, the President directed that the program be more focused on groups of people who really need it.
"What needs to be made efficient, who does not have to receive the MBG program again, yes, please do not accept it anymore, but those who are in the lowest desil, in the lagging areas, in the areas with high valensistunting, please be given," he said.
The direction, added Agustina, became the basis for BGN to improve the implementation of the MBG program which reaches millions of beneficiaries.
