JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has not determined the time for the reconstruction of the Tendean Pedestrian Bridge (JPO) which was severely damaged after being hit by a truck carrying heavy equipment.

Currently, the DKI Transportation Office is still calculating the technical needs as well as discussing the liability scheme with the vehicle owner company.

Head of the Data and Information Center of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Road Development Agency, Siti Dinarwenny, said that the damage caused by the incident caused material losses estimated at billions of rupiah.

"In addition to damage to government assets, the incident also caused social losses in the form of disruption of community mobility due to the inability to function JPO Tendean and other disruptions," Wenny said in a statement, Wednesday, July 15.

In addition to damage to local government assets, the non-functioning of the Tendean JPO also has an impact on the activities of the community that usually uses the crossing facility.

Wenny said that the DKI Provincial Government was still discussing the parties who would be responsible for the losses due to the accident. Coordination with the truck owner company was carried out to find a solution, while still waiting for the process from the agency that has the authority.

"The Road Construction Service will coordinate and discuss with the company to find the best solution, while still waiting for the process from the relevant agencies according to their authority," said Wenny.

For the reconstruction of JPO Tendean, the Department of Road Construction has not been able to determine when the physical work will begin. The government must first prepare a technical plan and conduct a study before determining the design and stages of construction.

"Considering that the process requires further study, it is currently uncertain when the reconstruction of the JPO will be carried out," he said.

The incident of damage to the Tendean JPO is a concern because large-sized vehicles are still one of the risk factors for road infrastructure and public facilities. The Bina Marga Service reminds drivers of large vehicles to ensure that vehicles passing through are in accordance with the permitted dimensions and heights.

"Compliance with these provisions is expected to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents in the future," he added.
