JAKARTA - The United States Central Command (US CENTCOM) said on Tuesday night that it had completed a series of follow-up attacks against Iran, hitting "dozens of military targets" near the Strait of Hormuz and the Iranian coastal region.

"US fighter jets, drones, and naval vessels launched precision munitions against Iranian missile and drone sites, naval capabilities, and coastal defense systems during a seven-hour wave to further weaken Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping and civilian crews," US CENTCOM said in a statement, Anadolu reported (15/7).

The attack came on the same day as US forces continued a naval blockade of vessels transiting to or from Iranian ports and coastal areas, according to the statement.

"US forces remain vigilant, lethal, and ready to execute operations directed by the Commander in Chief," US CENTCOM said.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday morning that attacks on Iran would continue and intensify in the coming days, warning the United States would start targeting the country's power plants and bridges next week unless Tehran returned to the negotiating table.

It is known that tensions have escalated between the US and Iran in the Strait of Hormuz in recent days, with both sides attacking each other despite a Pakistani-mediated memorandum of understanding aimed at ending their conflict and reaching a lasting peace agreement.

Meanwhile, Iran sent a letter to the UN accusing the US of violating the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, which aims to end the war and commit war crimes.
