JAKARTA - Iran condemned the latest wave of US attacks on its territory, insisting that it had "nullified" all diplomatic efforts in recent months.

Their statements came shortly after the US military announced a new wave of attacks against Iran on Sunday, saying the attacks were aimed at "continuing to weaken" Tehran's ability to attack merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

"This barbaric attack is not only a grave violation of the basic principles of the United Nations Charter, but also a serious threat to international peace and security," the Iranian Foreign Ministry statement said, citing Al Arabiya from AFP (13/7).

The attack had "nullified all the efforts of the past few months to reduce tensions and build peace in the West Asian region," the statement continued.

"The US regime has also caused a return of insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz and disruption to international commercial shipping by openly interfering in Iran's process of implementing the necessary arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz," Theran said.

The latest attack by Tehran began at 21:00 GMT Sunday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on X, adding President Donald Trump "has directed the strike to hold the Iranian forces accountable."
