185 Toddlers In Bangka Positive For COVID-19

JAKARTA - The COVID-19 Task Force (Satgas) of Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, recorded as many as 185 toddlers in the area were confirmed to have COVID-19, due to close contact with their parents or other people who were exposed to the corona virus.

Spokesman for the Bangka Regency COVID-19 Task Force, Boy Yandra, said the 185 toddlers who were exposed to COVID-19 came from a number of sub-districts and had received health services by the medical team.

He said hundreds of toddlers who were known to be exposed to COVID-19 were mostly in close contact with their parents who were first infected with COVID-19.

"In addition to the presence of toddlers who were positive for COVID-19, there were also 19 babies who experienced the same thing due to close contact," he said in Sungailiat, as reported by Antara, Friday, June 11.

Boy Yandra advised people who were exposed to COVID-19 to temporarily not join their family members, especially direct contact with toddlers or their babies.

Information on the development of COVID-19 cases in Bangka Regency so far has recorded a total of 4,261 cases, 3,930 people have recovered, 5,769 people are known to be in close contact with COVID-19 patients and 73 COVID-19 patients have died.

"Meanwhile, there are 258 COVID-19 patients who are still undergoing the health recovery process, both in hospitals and in isolation centers," he said.

He reminded all levels of society to remain disciplined in implementing health protocols so that the number of cases of the spread of COVID-19 can be reduced to a minimum and the Bangka Regency area returns to the safe zone.
