JAKARTA - The Ministry of Culture revitalized the Pancasila Sakti Monument area, Jakarta, to strengthen the function of the museum as a space for historical education. Revitalization not only targets the update of facilities, but also the presentation of historical material so that it is easier to understand, especially by the younger generation.
Minister of Culture Fadli Zon directly reviewed the revitalization process of the area, Wednesday (1/7). During the visit, he saw the PKI Betrayal Museum, a relic room that stores the original clothes and equipment of the Revolutionary Heroes, as well as the diorama room of the Paseban Museum which is being updated.
According to Fadli, the revitalization was carried out without reducing the authenticity of the collection or the historical character of the area.
"This museum is being revitalized so that visitors can more easily and comfortably see the collections inside," said Fadli.
He explained that museums not only serve to store historical objects, but also become a learning space that is able to connect the community with the nation's journey.
The Pancasila Sakti Monument area contains various important collections, ranging from dioramas depicting the dynamics of Indonesian history after independence, including the 1948 and 1965 events, the relic room of the Revolutionary Heroes, documentary photos, historical vehicles, to buildings related to the events of the 30 September 1965 Movement such as the House of Torture, Command Post, Public Kitchen, and Old Well Lubang Buaya.
According to Fadli, the preservation of historical areas is part of efforts to maintain the collective memory of the nation as well as strengthen public understanding of Pancasila values.
"Pancasila is a handle and strength that unites the Indonesian nation. Through this museum, we are reminded that treason against Pancasila will never be repeated," he said.
The revitalization carried out by the Ministry of Culture includes the renovation of a number of buildings and facilities so that the museum is more representative, comfortable, and adaptive to the needs of visitors, without losing the authentic value of the collection and the cultural heritage area.
The government hopes that the update will make the museum not only a place to store historical artifacts, but also an educational space that is capable of increasing historical awareness while strengthening the national character.
