Allegedly Defective Procedure, the Central Jakarta PCNU Conference Draws a Fierce Protest from the MWC Manager

JAKARTA - The implementation of the Branch Conference (Konfercab) of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PCNU) Central Jakarta Branch Managers triggered a wave of protests and deep disappointment from participants. The highest deliberative forum at the branch level was considered defective because it passed participants from the Branch Deputy Assembly (MWC) whose validity of the Decision Letter (SK) had expired.

Responding to various irregularities that are suspected of violating the NU Articles of Association / House Budget (AD / ART) and the Association Regulation (Perkum), a number of NU MWC leaders in Central Jakarta officially issued a joint statement of position on Monday (29/6/2026).

The statement of position was attended and directly supported by the central figures of the MWC NU in Central Jakarta, including:

According to Ust. Alit, the course of the Konfercab PCNU Central Jakarta was forced and directed by certain parties. As a result, the forum lost its independence as a legitimate deliberation forum.

"NU is great because of obedience to AD/ART, dignified because of honesty, and strong because of deliberation. Any process that is suspected of ignoring the organization's provisions has the potential to cause division, reduce the trust of Nahdliyin residents, and injure the dignity of NU," wrote the representative of the participants in the official press release.

4 Crucial Violations in the Konfercab of the PCNU Central Jakarta

The leaders of the MWC NU in Central Jakarta highlighted four fatal violations that occurred during the forum:

Neglect of SK Extension MWC

The committee proved to have passed and included a number of MWC whose SK validity had expired without any legal basis or valid extension SK.

Invalidation of the Membership Mandate

The provisions of the Perkum which require the participant's mandate letter to be signed by four parties (Rais, Katib, Chairman, and Secretary) are not consistently carried out by the committee.

Maladministration of the AHWA Election

The nomination documents to the appointment of Ahlul Halli wal Aqdi (AHWA) are known not to have been signed by Rais and Katib in accordance with the organization's applicable rules.

Alleged Intimidation by the Presiding Officer (Caretaker)

The course of the trial, which was led by the caretaker, KH. Miftah Faqih, was considered anti-critical. A number of participants claimed to have received intimidating treatment and their rights were restricted when they delivered interruptions to straighten out the rules of the trial.

MWC Urges Total Evaluation for Legal Legitimacy

Based on this series of alleged procedural violations, the NU MWC managers in Central Jakarta urged NU managers at the regional (PWNU) and central (PBNU) levels to immediately conduct a thorough evaluation.

This decisive step is considered very crucial so that the decisions made at the Konfercab PCNU Jakarta Pusat have legal legitimacy, uphold organizational justice, and maintain the integrity of unity in the Nahdlatul Ulama.
