Prabowo Says State Wealth Leaks Rp2.500 Trillion per Year

BANGKALAN - President Prabowo Subianto said the leakage of state wealth was one of the big problems that made the people have not enjoyed the results of economic growth.

This was conveyed by Prabowo when closing the 2026 Alim Ulama and Konbes NU Congress in Bangkalan, Madura, Tuesday, June 23.

Prabowo said his government found many irregularities after he examined state data. According to him, national wealth flows too much abroad and only enriches a few people.

He said the leak amounted to around US$150 billion per year or around Rp2,500 trillion.

"The money is gone, it was taken away," said Prabowo.

Prabowo also said there was a practice of false reporting or under-invoicing. He gave an example of an entrepreneur who reported exports were smaller than the actual amount.

According to the President, based on UN data processed by the National Economic Council, Indonesia has suffered losses of up to 908 billion US dollars or around Rp. 15,000 trillion in 34 years.

Prabowo said that condition explains why the state budget often feels inadequate. Including for teachers' salaries, civil servants, road construction, bridges, schools, and other public services.

He emphasized that the government would close the leak.

"The government that I lead is determined to stop these leaks," he said.
