JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has recorded thousands of people affected by the 6.7 magnitude earthquake that shook Central Sulawesi. As of Wednesday, June 17 at 06.00 WIB, the number of affected victims reached 1,834 families (KK) or 5,784 people.

Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, said that Sigi Regency was the region that suffered the most from the earthquake.

"Based on the latest data as of Wednesday (17/6) at 06.00 WIB, the earthquake has affected 1,834 families (KK) or 5,784 people. A total of 73 residents were reported to have suffered minor injuries, while three others suffered serious injuries. The number of deaths is still recorded at one person, without any addition from the previous report," said Abdul Muhari in his statement, Wednesday, June 17.

Of the total affected victims, as many as 1,813 KK or 5,744 people were in Sigi Regency. In addition to causing casualties and injuries, the earthquake also caused damage to residents' homes.

BNPB data showed that 1,074 houses were slightly damaged, 110 units were moderately damaged, and 30 units were severely damaged in Sigi Regency.

"Until now, data collection and emergency handling are still being carried out by BPBD together with the joint team," he said.

Following this, the local government will also activate the Command Post in the Maku Village area using the Sigi Regency BPBD Pusdalops Office and distribute logistical assistance in the affected areas to meet the basic needs of affected people.
