The Head of the Sampang Regency Hajj and Umrah Ministry, Sayfuddin, said the two pilgrims who died were from the 67th and 68th flight groups (kloter).

"The two pilgrims who died were from two flight groups, namely kloter 67 and 68," said Sayfuddin in Sampang, Antara, Wednesday, June 17.

He explained that the two pilgrims died after completing the series of Hajj rituals in Mecca.

The congregation from Kloter 67 who died was named Muhammad Tohir M. Suud Burhan, a resident of Jalan Tengku Umar, Sampang City. The deceased died in Mecca on Thursday, May 28, after undergoing treatment for illness.

Meanwhile, the congregation from Kloter 68 who died was named Slamet Riyadi Miad, a resident of Puri Matahari Housing, Sampang City.

According to Sayfuddin, Slamet Riyadi Miad died at An Nur Hospital, Mecca, on Wednesday, June 10.

"All the handling process has been carried out in accordance with the applicable regulations. We also express our condolences to the families left behind and hope that the families will be given fortitude and strength in facing this disaster," he said.

In this year's hajj season, the number of pilgrims from Sampang Regency who departed for the Holy Land was recorded as 618 people.

With the death of the two pilgrims, the number of pilgrims from Sampang who are scheduled to return home on June 19 has become 616 people.
