JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo reviewed the COVID-19 vaccination against 1,000 transportation operators as well as small and micro businesses (SMEs) at the Kampung Rambutan Terminal, Jakarta, Thursday, June 10.

“Why are we vaccinating here? Because the actors here are those who have very high interactions with the community," said President Jokowi as quoted by Antara.

Vaccination priority, said the President, was also given due to the very high intercity mobility of transport operators and the community at the Kampung Rambutan Terminal.

In this way, vaccination of transportation operators is expected to prevent the spread of COVID-19 from becoming wider.

“The perpetrators who were vaccinated were both drivers, both assistants, small businesses, micro businesses and their surroundings. All of this was vaccinated this morning, approximately 1,000 people," said the Head of State.

During the review, they appeared to accompany President Jokowi, namely the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin and the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan.

As of Wednesday, June 9, the government has administered the first dose of vaccination to 18.7 million people, and the second dose of vaccination to 11.4 million people.

The target population to be given the COVID-19 vaccine is 181.5 million people, to achieve a minimum of 70 percent of the total population of Indonesia, in order to create community immunity (herd immunity).

The government targets that COVID-19 vaccination for all targeted vaccine recipients can be completed in 2021.

On Wednesday, June 9, President Jokowi also witnessed the COVID-19 vaccination at the University of Indonesia Hospital (RSUI), Depok, West Java and in Tangerang Regency, Banten Province.
