JAKARTA - The government has begun preparing state land for the construction of houses for low-income and middle-income groups. The scheme can use the state budget, corporate social responsibility funds, or CSR, as well as other financing combinations.
Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning (PKP) Maruarar Sirait said the utilization of state assets for public housing will begin this year.
"State lands controlled by the government will be used for low-income and middle-income people," said Maruarar Siraita, who is familiarly called Ara, at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta, Tuesday (9/6).
According to Ara, the housing that will be built can be rented or sold, depending on the scheme prepared by the government.
Ara also touched on the 30-hectare land in Meikarta which was donated by the Lippo Group through Mochtar Riady. The project is said to have passed the land clearing and first stone laying stages.
"Pray that it will be a very large and massive housing," he said.
He assessed that the location was strategic because it was close to hospitals, schools, industrial areas, markets, and places of worship.
Ara hopes that the public can start ordering or making purchase agreements by the end of this year.
