PADSNG - The Regional Military Command (Kodam) XX/Tuanku Imam Bonjol conveyed the results of the investigation into the incident of "stray" bullets that hit civilians at the State University of Padang (UNP) were identical to the ammunition used by TNI personnel during training on the same day.

"The ammunition found in one of the victims, namely nine millimeters, is very identical to the training ammunition carried out by the Infantry Battalion (Yonif) TP 897/Singgalang," said the Head of Public Information of the XX/Tuanku Imam Bonjol Military Command (Kapendam) Colonel Taufiq in Padang City, Monday, June 8, reported by ANTARA.

This was conveyed by the Kapendam after the TNI conducted an investigation of the crime scene both at the (UNP) and at the Lapai Shooting Field until the projectile test.

From the investigation, the TNI or Kodam Tuanku Imam Bonjol said that the projectile measuring nine millimeters came from a G2 Combat pistol type firearm.

He said that during the exercise, TNI personnel of Yonif TP 897/Singgalang used two types of weapons, namely long barrels with 5.56 millimeter caliber ammunition, and short barrel weapons of the G2 Combat pistol type.

Before announcing to the public, the investigation team conducted a two-day test which included a theoretical test and a field test until finally concluding that the projectile that hit the victim's leg was identical to the ammunition used by personnel during training.

After the incident, Colonel Taufiq ensured that Kodam XX/Tuanku Imam Bonjol also closed the Lapai Shooting Field until an undetermined deadline. In fact, the local Kodam also did not rule out moving the location or place of training for soldiers.

"However, this of course needs coordination with related agencies, especially the local government," he said.

Meanwhile, for the two victims, Kodam XX ensured that they would bear all the costs of treatment, healing, and trauma healing. This is one form of TNI's responsibility and commitment to the community, especially the victims.
