Iran Says Israel Attack Fully Coordinated with United States

JAKARTA - Iran stated that the recent wave of Israeli attacks against the country was fully coordinated with the United States Central Command or CENTCOM.

"The direct responsibility of the United States for the actions of the Zionist regime is clear and the consequences of increasing tensions will also be borne by the US," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said at a press conference, quoted by the IRNA News Agency, Monday.

Bagaei also criticized the approach taken by the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossiterhadap the Iranian case, which he considered to be political and irresponsible.

Earlier, Israeli airstrikes targeted a petrochemical company in southwestern Iran, causing partial damage to the industrial complex, Iranian officials said.

The attack came alongside sirens sounding in several Israeli cities after the missile launch by Iran.

The central east has been under tension since the US and Israel launched air strikes on Iran in late February, triggering Iranian retaliation against Israel and other regional countries hosting US military assets.

Iran and the US then agreed to a temporary ceasefire on April 8, but negotiations stalled amid disputes over its implementation and subsequent regional developments.
