JAKARTA - An explosion occurred in the Cilandak area, South Jakarta, Monday, June 8, 2026 morning, allegedly triggered by a high-voltage cable that broke while drilling work was underway. Two people were reported to have been burned.

The Fatmawati Hospital Road explosion, specifically at the BRI Roundabout, Cilandak Barat Village, Cilandak District, around 09.30 WIB.

Cilandak Police Chief Kompol Gusprihatin Zen said the suspected explosion occurred due to the disconnection of a high-voltage PLN cable during the drilling process.

He explained that the incident was known after the police received a report from the public through the 110 Call Center regarding the sound of an explosion heard from the scene.

According to him, officers have carried out crime scene investigations, examined a number of witnesses, and listed the victims for further investigation.

Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, said two workers suffered burns to their faces due to the incident.

"The victim was immediately taken to the Emergency Room of Fatmawati Hospital for treatment. Currently, officers have also installed a police line to secure the crime scene," said Budi.

Budi emphasized that the police ensured that the victims received medical treatment quickly. The police also continue to monitor the project site to prevent similar incidents.

"We appeal to residents around to remain calm and immediately report any potential danger through the 110 Call Center so that handling can be done quickly and correctly," he concluded.
