TABANAN - Social Minister (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul revealed that the government still found school-age children who had never received any education at all.

The findings were obtained in the process of reaching out to prospective students of the People's School which was carried out in various regions.

When accompanying President Prabowo Subianto at SRMP 17 Tabanan, Bali, Sunday (7/6), Gus Ipul told one of the cases he encountered.

A teenager named Al Jabbar, aged 15 and living in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, admitted that he had never been to school.

"My name is Al Jabbar, 15 years old, living in Duren Sawit. But I have never been to school," said Gus Ipul, imitating the child's confession.

According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, this case is not the only one.

The government has found children who have never been to school, dropped out of school, or are at risk of dropping out of school.

Gus Ipul menyebut kelompok ini sebagai bagian dari masyarakat yang selama ini tidak terlihat dalam sistem layanan publik.

"There are so many like this," he said.

Therefore, the People's School is directed to reach groups that have been left behind from access to education.
