JAKARTA - The Forum of Alumni of the Student Executive Board and Student Senate Alumni or FABEM-SM urges the Attorney General's Office to thoroughly investigate allegations of corruption in the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).
The demand was conveyed through an official letter of aspiration to the Attorney General's Office. FABEM considers state programs concerning the needs of the people to be free from corruption, collusion, and abuse of authority.
FABEM Chairman Zainuddin Arsyad said his party supports the Attorney General's Office in tracing alleged irregularities at BGN.
"Corruption is a common enemy that hinders development and harms society. We support the Attorney General's Office to thoroughly investigate every alleged deviation, especially in programs that concern the interests of the people," said Zainuddin in a written statement, Friday, June 5.
In the letter, FABEM conveyed two main demands. First, the Attorney General's Office was asked to conduct a thorough investigation into alleged irregularities at BGN. FABEM highlighted the alleged sale and purchase of the Nutrition Service Fulfillment Unit (SPPG) point as well as alleged irregularities in the procurement of goods and services.
Second, FABEM asked the Attorney General's Office to trace the possibility of networks and the involvement of other parties. The search, according to FABEM, needs to include the suspect's affiliation with certain foundations or organizations as well as relationships with cross-agency officials at the center and the region.
FABEM also urged an examination of the winning company in the BGN tender. They also questioned the registration process of BGN partners which is said to continue even though the official BGN partnership portal is reported to be closed or inaccessible.
Deputy Chairman of the DPP FABEM for Legal and Inter-Institutional Tody Ardiansyah Prabu invited students, academics, community organizations, and civil society elements to accompany the legal process so that it runs transparently and professionally.
According to FABEM, clear investigations are needed so that national strategic programs are not tainted by alleged irregularities. Moreover, programs such as Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) concern the fulfillment of nutrition, the quality of human resources, the empowerment of MSMEs, and the utilization of local food.
FABEM assessed that a firm legal step can be a momentum for improving the governance of government programs that directly touch the interests of the community.
