Teacher Who Perpetrated Sexual Harassment In Jakut Arrested, Threatened To 15 Years In Prison

JAKARTA - The North Jakarta Metro Resort Police (Polres) revealed the mode of sexual harassment against students of an educational foundation on Jalan Inspeksi Pluit Reservoir, Penjaringan.

North Jakarta Metro Police Chief Commissioner Guruh Arif Darmawan said the suspect with the initials HS (58), an unscrupulous teacher at the foundation lured his victims with money and new clothes.

"The suspect always said to the victim, 'don't tell anyone'. To persuade him, this perpetrator gave money and also new clothes to these victims. And also gave money in amounts varying between Rp. 5,000 to Rp. 20,000 per person," said Guruh at the North Jakarta Police Headquarters, reported by Antara, Wednesday, June 9.

Guruh said the incident occurred around March 2021, when the victim finished studying face-to-face with the suspect inside the foundation.

"In the afternoon, around March 2021 when the victim finished studying at the suspect's place," said Guruh.

The complainant of this case is the parent of one of the victims. The number of temporary victims is five people with an age range of 7-9 years.

Guruh refused to reveal the identity of the victim, but his party is still investigating whether there are other victims of abuse.

Then the evidence that is owned includes the victim's post-mortem letter from the Kramat Jati Police Hospital. A number of the victim's clothes were also examined by the police as evidence.

The incident started on May 4, 2021. At that time, the victim's parents were confused about finding their child because it was already 22.00 WIB that they had not yet returned home, even though their friends had already returned.

"Then at that time the victim's parents were looking for the victim. His parents asked the victim's friends where the child was. Then they were told (his friend) that the victim was with the perpetrator," he said

Then at that time sought and found. "The victim said and told her parents about the suspect's treatment of the victim," said Guruh.

Based on the victim's story, her son is not alone. A number of his friends had been sexually harassed by the suspect.

Then after this incident was known to the parents, the perpetrator fled. However, the North Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit managed to arrest the suspect in the Cengkareng area, West Jakarta, on Monday, June 7.

After the examination, the perpetrator has abused the victim, varying between 2-4 times per person. Then all these actions were carried out when the victim finished learning face-to-face at the victim's place.

Because of his actions, the suspect is threatened with imprisonment for violating Article 82 of Law Number 17 of 2016 concerning Child Protection. The maximum penalty is 15 years in prison.
