JAKARTA - The Hezbollah group on Friday (5/6) launched a number of attacks, including with missiles, against Israeli forces near Beaufort Castle in southern Lebanon.

In a separate statement, the resistance group said it targeted Israeli forces and military vehicles around the historic castle with precision missiles, as well as launching artillery fire on the area in three waves.

As reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Hezbollah also stated that its fighters threw explosives at Israeli forces advancing east of the city of Ghandouriyeh, which they said caused casualties on the Israeli side.

Israeli forces then evacuated the wounded amid thick smoke before launching artillery fire and air raids on the surrounding area, according to the group.

Previously, Hezbollah said it had carried out 25 operations against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon in the past 24 hours, including attacks using drones, rockets, and anti-tank missiles.

The Israeli military announced on Thursday the death of a tank commander from the 75th Battalion of the 7th Armored Brigade in southern Lebanon.

The number of Israeli military personnel killed has risen to 28 since the war in Iran erupted in late February.

On Wednesday, Lebanon and Israel agreed to renew a fragile ceasefire and establish a pilot zone.

The deal makes the Lebanese army the only party with territorial control, excluding all non-state actors.

The agreement was announced in a joint statement after the fourth round of negotiations mediated by the United States.

The talks come after Israel launched an offensive into Lebanon that has lasted weeks.

The Israeli attacks have reportedly killed nearly 3,500 people since March 2, although a ceasefire came into effect on April 17 and was later extended until the beginning of July.
