Selling Dad's Motorcycle for Rp. 1.5 Million, Nakes in Probolinggo Engineering Becomes Begal Victim

PROBOLINGGO - The Probolinggo Regional Police (Polres) has confirmed that the report of alleged robbery experienced by a health worker (nakes) at the Waluyo Jati Kraksaan Hospital, Probolinggo Regency, East Java, turned out to be a fabricated story and never happened.

Probolinggo Police Chief AKBP M. Wahyudin Latif said the conclusion was obtained after the police conducted a series of investigations, witness examinations, and observations at the location referred to as the scene of the crime.

"After conducting a series of investigations and in-depth examinations, the Kraksaan Police along with the Probolinggo Police ensured that the incident was not a criminal act as previously reported," said Wahyudin, quoted by Antara Thursday, June 4.

Previously, a health worker at the Waluyo Jati Hospital named Nugroho Priyo Wicaksono, a resident of the Kraksaan District, reported that he was a victim of robbery by unknown people in the area around the Sidomukti Heroes Cemetery, Kraksaan, on Monday, June 1 evening.

The report was a concern for the public and raised concerns about security conditions in the Probolinggo Regency area.

However, the results of the police investigation found a number of irregularities in the statements provided by the reporter. One of them, the injuries suffered by Nugroho were considered not consistent with the chronology of the robbery that had previously been submitted to investigators.

"From the results of the examination and observation in the field, a number of irregularities were found because the injuries suffered by the victim did not match the chronology of the robbery," said Wahyudin.

After further examination, Nugroho finally admitted that the story of the robbery was made up and never happened.

According to the Police Chief, the confession was made consciously without any pressure from any party.

"The person concerned has admitted consciously and without pressure from any party that the incident was engineered due to economic problems in the family," he said.

Based on the report's confession, the story of the robbery was deliberately made after he sold his father's motorcycle for Rp. 1.5 million. The money from the sale of the vehicle was then used to meet daily needs.

To cover up his actions, Nugroho admitted that he created a scenario as if he was the victim of a robbery and lost a motorcycle on the road.

Wahyudin said the news of the robbery that had spread widely had caused unrest among the public. Therefore, he urged the public to be more careful and wise in receiving and disseminating information that has not been verified for its truth.

"Many residents are concerned about security conditions, especially in the Probolinggo Regency area. For this reason, I urge the public to be more wise in receiving and disseminating information," he said.

The Police Chief also reminded the importance of giving honest information to law enforcement officers so that the handling of cases can run well and not have a negative impact on the community.

Meanwhile, Nugroho has apologized to the police and the Probolinggo community for the false report he made. He admitted that the whole story of the robbery was a fabrication and regretted his actions which had caused public concern.
